How we are funded
The short version
We are paid referral fees for introducing readers to professionals — lawyers, insurance brokers and similar. We are paid a flat fee for the introduction itself. We are not paid more if you engage them, we take no share of what you pay them, and no fee has ever changed a word on a page.
Nothing else on this site is for sale.
What we sell
Referral placements. A firm or broker pays a flat monthly fee to appear on a topic page. When you click through, that click is recorded so the partner and we agree on how many introductions were made. That record is the entire basis of the invoice.
Nothing that depends on you. We are deliberately not paid per outcome. Outcome-based fees create a reason to steer you, and steering readers is the thing that would make this site worthless.
What we refuse to sell, and why
Any placement connected to obtaining a prescription. We do not list clinics, prescribers, telehealth services, pharmacies or producers, and we do not accept money from them. Promoting a route to a prescription-only medicine is prohibited in Australia — it is what regulators have pursued other Australian sites for — and being paid for it is what turns a description into a promotion. It is also the one thing that would destroy the independence this site runs on.
Placement inside the answer. Partner links sit in their own labelled block. They never appear inside the part of a page that tells you what the law says, and the presence or absence of a partner never changes what that part says.
Ranking. Where more than one partner appears on a page, the order is alphabetical or rotated. Position is not for sale at any price.
Coverage. Nobody can pay us to write about a topic, to write about it favourably, or to leave a topic alone.
Conflicts we want you to know about
The publisher of this site also owns other Australian websites covering road law and workplace law, and those sites carry their own paid placements. Where a page here links to one of them, we say so on the page. They are separate businesses with separate advertisers; we mention the connection because you should be able to weigh it.
We have no ownership interest in, and take no money from, any lawyer, broker, insurer or firm mentioned anywhere on this site beyond the flat placement fee described above.
Why we tell you this at all
Australian consumer law treats a failure to disclose a commercial relationship that affects content as potentially misleading conduct, and the regulator has been actively enforcing it. That is the floor.
The actual reason is simpler. This site is only worth reading if you believe it is not selling you something. The moment you cannot tell whether a sentence is information or an advertisement, every other sentence on the site loses its value too. Telling you exactly where the money comes from is cheaper than earning that trust back.
Being paid is not a recommendation
A partner appearing on this site has paid to be visible to you. That is all it means. We have not assessed their competence, their fees or their suitability for your situation, and inclusion is not an endorsement.
Make your own enquiries. Ask about costs in writing before you engage anyone. If a partner ever tells you that we vouch for them, tell us and we will end the arrangement.
